Why we love to hate the Casey Anthony family
Yesterday George and Cindy Anthony were deposed in the civil case involving the Anthonys and Ms. Gonzales and it was an explosion of emotions. Cudos to Mr. Morgan for asking the tough questions we all wanted to hear answers to.
The couple came off as combative and offensive. I would think they would be defensive and maybe somewhat composed after all this time, but it appeared to me that their emotions were simmering right from the start and they wanted a show for the camera. Cindy Anthony evens refers to the camera herself during a part of her deposition. It was obvious to me that it was definitely a “show” and at times a power struggle.
One that definitely doesn’t help the defense and one that makes the Anthony parents, in my opinion, look totally off balance and disturbed.
Let’s put a side how ridiculous I think they sound when they agree with or defend their daughter- a lot of parents love blindly. I don’t fault them that.
I want to focus on why they are still in the news and why it is we love to hate them.
It’s because they speak out of both sides of their face. Witnesses have stated that the parents were “fed up” with Casey and her lies and the stealing. They have said that George called his own daughter “messed up” and “not right”. They have reported that Cindy Anthony called her daughter a bad mother (Lee Anthony even confirms this in his deposition) and that on more than one occasion Cindy Anthony threatened to seek legal custody of Caylee…- understandable and sounds normal to me…
Yet when confronted or questioned- Cindy calls her daughter a good mother, she calls everyone else a liar (does this include her son?) She claims to have had numbers and addresses for “Zany” but in 2 1/2 years never called or met the woman, and out of the same breath she claims “Zany” could be code name for the ex. or the BF..? The dots don’t connect and it’s just not a rational line of thinking.
We love to hate the Anthony’s because they seem completely off balance, nothing they say makes any sense, they contradict themselves and are so arrogant as to think they can talk their way out of everything- even their lies….and they fail miserably….we keep watching..hoping for an answer that can explain what happened to Caylee and why that family is the way that it is.
Don’t give me the excuse that they’ve already lost a granddaughter and that they would do anything to help their daughter now—if that was the case then they would be overly helpful and pleading to the public that their daughter didn’t do these things….but they aren’t acting in that way…they are arrogant and make headlines talking about other people, grandstanding to the cameras and keeping themselves (as well as all the lies and inconsistencies) in the forefront of everyones minds.
What do I expect a family in their shoes to do?
Shut up. Plain and simple. From the time police began to focus on their daughter they should have kept their mouths shut. They can support and love their daughter and feel however way they want to- but once they make it public, and contridict themselves and get caught in lies and inconsistencies then we are going to talk…and they lose whatever crediblity they have as intelligent people.
Yes, it’s irrational the things we do for our children- those of us with kids understand that…maybe that explains the blindness when it came to Caseys lies and stealing in the past. I get it. They may have enabled her and lived in a state of denial. They wouldn’t be the first parents to do that.
But as evidence mounts, it seems as though they keep spinning circles around truths and lies and teeter back and forth from being the concerned parent to being a hostile defendant.
We don’t see coverage like this of any other parents of alleged child murderers….
I think the Anthony’s have welcomed the public caos from the beginning and have fed into the beast with their actions…
which is why they are still in the news today and one reason why so many of us love to hate them.

Bean Sprout-Are they acting like normal people would after a traumatic life event? Yes and no. They are rude and combative and hostile most of the time. These are observable behaviors. We are offended by them because Mr and Mrs Anthony routinely misrepresent the facts. How would you expect them to act? Happy and contented in their own skin? Bright, cheerful and responsive? Intellectually and emotionally at the top of their game? They are over burdoned with sorrow, dispair and tremendous grief over the loss of their graddaughter.
At the end of the day there will be many more people damaged by Casey Anthony. They will be forever remembered for their association with her but none will be as damaged as her parents and her brother.
Hate is a very harsh word and something I never, ever want to feel in my heart and soul. My heart is filled with love for dear, darling Caylee. I have nothing but hope for Mr and Mrs Anthony and Lee. May the good Lord give them the strength to see the truth.
“Hate” is just a figure of speech used to describe this country’s facination with these people and how outraged their actions make the public , and no I do not think they are acting the way normal people would after a traumatic life event otherwise we wouldn’t be discussing them and their actions right now. Thanks for the feedback and like you I hope that one day they will see the truth and live it.
I thought I was the only one who caught that about the phone numbers, she made it sound like Zanny was still watching the baby then BAM I think Zanny could be Jesse or Amy. What the he!!? If she had Zanny’s phone numbers why did she never (not once) call her directly and talk to Caylee? My guess is she had no number for her. Then she said Casey didn’t see her friends for months, WHAT THE HE!!? When did her friends any of her friends say they didn’t see her for months they all said if she wasn’t with the new set she always came back to the old ones. The only time she dropped off the face of the earth was for one week, the week Caylee went missing. However she was with her boyfriend of the month. She said Casey could stay out all night she was an adult then why did her best friends say Cindy was always calling telling her to come home? It is obvious Cindy loves Casey she is working her way into a jail cell, it is so sad that Casey did not love Caylee enough to fight off the Nanny at the park when she kidnapped her!!!!!! CINDY, GEORGE,LEE AND CASEY STOP YOUR LIES YOU ARE COVERING UP A MURDER. I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO GET YOU AND EVEN BETTER WHEN GOD HIMSELF GETS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After yesterday’s deposition, I am convinced that the root of all evil from this family lies within Cindy Anthony. We can go on and on forever, but she holds the answers to what happened in this family. This is a real tragedy and one that no one wins in the end. Frankly, I’m tired of seeing Cindy Anthony, George Anthony and Lee Anthony. They all lie and they all are involved in this horrible tragedy whether that be from the beginning or now…they know in their hearts that Casey is guilty, but it seems like Cindy has rendered what the family will do and all are following her lead. I believe if they truly turn their hearts to the Lord, they can be saved and they can except the truth. We need to keep them in our prayers and hope that Casey will eventually seek forgiveness and confess her sins. Only then will she find salvation.
I agree about Cindy being the root of all evil. She seems to run the members of that family with an iron hand. And I feel that she is very unbalanced. I think that George, Casey, and Lee have all suffered at her hands but that is not an excuse for the lies or for the dead baby.
I watched part of George’s deposition and some parts of Cindy’s. They are frightening people. And they are making people hate their daughter and themselves more than ever.
Jennifer-Amen.
What I observed from both Cindy and George is their rage towards their daughter and the absence of any true feelings towards others.
Just imagine the tears they could have shed and the support they would have received yesterday if they decided to accept certain truths and respect the rights of others? They have no support. They have no friends. Casey has no friends. Lee is home trying to be a good son.
Even while Casey is locked up she continues to ravage them every waking moment. She will make them pay for what she did. Casey Anthony will do whatever it takes to get out of taking responsibility for her actions. Why after 22 years should she take orders from anyone? There are no rules for Casey Ahthony. She gets rid of people and things that get in her way.
As long as Cindy and George resist the truth Caylee will always be Missing.
In this family of mean spirited people, arrogance that defies belief, lying, scheming, greediness, self-centeredness, manipulation and grandstanding, there was once a beautiful, sweet little girl who loved them and looked to them for love and protection. They keep forgetting that this is not about them, but it is about that little girl.
Cindy is the Mama Sociopath and Casey is the Baby Sociopath.
I don’t hate the Anthony family, no one that understands the actual facts of this acse would hate them.
Hate has been defined above. No one hates the Anthony family but this post describes the animosity which they have generated by being oppositional, rude and offensive to others. I’m sure you are familiar with those character/behavior traits.
I applaud their stance, considering the circumstances.
They deserved to have had the help of a competent attorney so that they could at some point rehabilitate their reputation and bring meaning and clarity to the deposition. They embarrassed Zanaida while attempting to exonerate her. I wouldn’t say that was a noble thing to do but considering the circumstances and the state of their fragile emotional state the viewer/reader is required to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Wrong again Boston, but that’s fine if you don’t understand Law or Psychology, many people don’t.
Paula-I understand exactly what you are saying. I never get too upset about what Cindy does because I know that at the end of the day nothing she says has credibility;no one is going to her to seek her advise or to learn something substantive about the disappearance and death of her granddaughter.
Just imagine if you had a missing child and the police and FBI had you tagged as a liar, deceptive and someone who would obstruct justice by tampering with evidence as well as covering up for someone who has been indicted for the murder.
Hundreds of people are looking for your granddaughter and none of them are asking you for help in finding her.
Imagine having a daughter like Casey and witnessing the behavior of someone who has lost their child and never going out to even walk down the driveway and look to the left or to the right.
Harriet is so right when she says they are frigtening people.
Cindy was never, ever in denial and that’s why she is capable of so much rage towards others.
After watching the Anthony’s all I can say is
THE APPLE DIDN’T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE
Watching NG and that Cindy is a real piece of work! She thinks being a “smart aleck” means she’s smart.
How does one accept the idea that their daughter killed her own daughter? I wish I had the answer.
I am truly at a loss how George and Cindy think that contradicting their own previous statements to the FBI/police, being disrespectful and abusive (almost pathetic when GA accused the Atty. of flipping him off) is going to gain anything but public disdain. I felt really sorry for their attorney. It certainly won’t help Casey.
Can anybody guess how long the Anthony’s will stay together? I think Cindy will blame George for everything when this finally settled in court!! Their suburban middle class life is over as they knew it and I do feel sympathy for them..in that respect. How do they go on from here?
God help them!
A college degree(s) and a professional license will help you to understand what you say you just don’t have the capacity to understand at this point in your educational-life.
Cindy hasn;t got an insightful bone in her body. She thinks that being a smart aleck is smart. She honestly believes that it’s her way or the highway and that she has a proven track record of success. She must be obeyed. Well it aint gonna happen like that when she is asked to state the truth in the courtroom. I don’t care how hostile she becomes she still has to answer truthfully without regard for the consequences.
Caylee will be sitting in the empty chair at the prosecutors table and she will be waiting for answers from the ones she loves the most. She’ll want to know why she was sent to heaven so soon. Cindy knows those answers and Casey isn;t talking. The smart aleck better start talkin’.
I’d like to point out an observation about George’s comment to ZG, where he tells her, quote > I’m really sorry that YOU HAVE to BE HERE < Uhm…. earth to George, YOU are only SORRY that YOU had to be there and another thing,George! You should be SORRY that ZG was blamed for something that she never did. The A’s should apologize to ZG for being arrested & interogated by the fbi,in front of neighbors & family.
Would I sue? Hell yeah,I would! The A’s are self entitled, rude & obnoxious, liars!! and that is why they are despised! America is sick of this BS everyday, where a child is abused, murdered and/or molested.
Linda-If Cindy and George could get the intensive psychotherapy they so desparately need than I think they could reconcile their differences and come to the realization that their behavior is unacceptable and their standing in the community, although ruined by Casey, needs a major make over. They need treatment.
Who is standing up for Caylee?
I don’t see much love for her in the Anthony’s.
The DA and his team will work night and day for Caylee. She is their heart and soul and they will seek justice for her. The long arm of the law cannot make Casey talk but it sure can lock the door to her cell for the rest of her life.
prevost1580- I believe that George was honestly sorry that Zanaida had to be there. Had he gotten good advice from coucil he would not have apologised to her.
I say let Zenaida sit quietly in the back of the room and count her money. I hope it’s enough to get her out of Motel 6 next winter.
The best revenge is winning without having to say a word and allowing everyone with something to hide sweat like a pig.
In their hear and soul? No way, she’s dead, didn’t you hear yet? Caylee was murdered. As the prosecution’s case continues to crumble, another officer is fired on Friday for his role in jepordizing the prosecutions case. Getting close to a dozen officers fired, re-assigned, or suspended for actions done contrary to the Law. Maybe the party tents should be ordered for Casey’s release date.
yea… I do not believe that George or his pitbull wife were sorry that ZG was there or that she was thrown into this BS!
The A’s are always sorry that crasey got caught and that no one is believing their white trash lies.
Why should ZG sit quietly? she was arrested & interogated for something that she never did.
The A’s are total scum, like the p.o.s that they raised. The apple really does NOT fall far from the tree.
It’s no wonder that the kidfinders( ahem ) criminals! are their only pals. Trash!
Pro-They are horrified and out of their minds that Zanaida is looking at the both of them straight on and demanding that they clear her name. Both Mr and Mrs Anthony know that by clearing Zanny they open the door to Casey.
The full impact of the law came down on them when Casey was indicted for Felony Murder. Now, nearly 6 months later, they are looking at a complete stranger and that complete stranger will be Casey Anthony’s undoing.
Had Cindy told the truth on the second 911 call she would not be sitting before Morgan and Milnik.
The Anthony’s demonstrate an enormous amount of flawed thinking and righteous indignation and no one appears to be guiding them through this process.
The real sadness here is that the Anthony’s don’t realize that Casey is coming after them.
Boston,
While watching T.V. last night I ran across the Nancy Grace show and Leonard Padilla said something interesting….Zani is an acronym for XANAX.
He made reference to “Zani the nanny” as XANAX the nanny.
Interesting to say the least.
Linda-Go back to Annie Downing’s deposition where she clearly states that she was treated and perscibed Xanax. I can’t recall if she shared her diagnosis but it can be assumed that it might have been for depression or anxiety. When asked if she shared her Xanax with Casey Anthony she state catagorically that she did not.
Whether or not Xanax was considered a sedative for Caylee can be considered, I think, only in terms of who is saying it. Did Casey say something to the effect, “Caylee is not coming out with me tonight because she’s in the care of Xanny the Nanny.” Could a witness for the prosecution state on the record that she was aware that Casey gave Caylee a sleep medication? If it’s second hand (hearsay) than it won’t be admitted. It could be admitted if the witness eyeballed Caylee swallowing something.
There will not be, to the best of my knowledge, any toxicology test that will help explain cause of death. If a cloth soaked with bleach or a form of chorolform was used to calm the child prior to death it would more than likely have “evaporated” in the body tissue or bones. Perper, et al) What was interesting was the fact that the trunk of the car held this anesthesia long after the death occurred.
I think it would be fair to say that Casey gave Caylee sleeping medication on a regular basis and as she gained weight she slept for shorter periods of time. Casey was more than likely looking for something that would keep her resting throughout the early morning hours. I think that is what prompted the online searches.
When Casey provided a drugged sleeping state for Caylee she would tell her friends, Caylee is with Xanny the Nanny”.
My Mom had six children and when my Dad would asked, “Where is Brian”, Mom would often say, “Francis, he’s with the Sandman”. I believe Casey was just as casual.
Boston,
I agree that it can not be admitted into evidence without eyewitness testimony, nor should it be! I just found it interesting, a coincidence I guess that Casey picked Zenaida …Zanny…as the fall guy! I don’t know if she is that clever or not, but she is certainly surprising with her stories..they are so in-depth. I just shake my head and think how sad it is that Casey didn’t use that imagination for something good in her life.
After watching her Mom on the stand yesterday (the videos), I can almost feel what it must have been like to live wih her! I mean good lord, one has to pack two days worth of clothing for Caylee just to go shopping?? Even the news people couldn’t believe that one.
George is so brow beat that even though he knew Casey was troubled, he apparently did nothing about it. He appears to me to be dominated by Cindy.
Your Mom had a good sense of humor…with the sandman..how cute!
I live close to the Tracy, CA. where Sandra Cantu was kidnapped and murdered. In fact, we shop in Tracy and I was floored when they arrested a woman for the crime. I guess it won’t garner as much publicity as Casey though..thank God!
Have a good day!
Linda
Linda-that was very sad and totally unexpected in Tracy, CA. That poor unfortunate child. My heart goes out to her mother.
George was brow beaten and then some. He certainly didn’t deserve to bury his darling granddaughter. Cindy is just a pridefilled and vindictive woman who has faught her way into the limelight kicking and screaming and chewing gum all at the same time. She’s a real talent.
Before I read the comments, I want to say what a GREAT post! I just could not figure out why I even pay attention to this case. At first it was the hope in finding Caylee alive but now?…………I just didn’t know. You summed it up perfectly for me. For one I cannot stand liars let alone enablers and offensive people. I wouldn’t even call them defensive as they are the ones attacking.
BeanSprout can certainly get to the heart of the matter and her writing style is inviting, descriptive and downright honest.
Everyone who is married…..Does your spouse think you are crazy for following this stuff and writing comments?? Mine thinks I have lost my mind and I can’t give him a reasonable explanation except I should have been a lawyer!!
I am just hooked on this case..maybe because of George and Cindy. At first I had lots of sympaty for them, but that is fading fast this past week.
Fascinated
This case may not really be the reason they all think your crazy.
well hello michellefrommadison…lol!
Hello.
Linda-We both know that people with insight and creative thinking abilities always have the ability to compare and contrast ideas and arrive at certain truths. Insightful people like yourself can discern and disgard old ideas in order to arrive at a clearer and deeper understanding. This cannot happen alone. It is very much a part of the human condition to connect with others and engage in the process.
I think what motivates many of us is the opportunity to engage in the “assumption-breaking” process. Creative thinking is the process whereby we come up with many ideas and discard useless one. Essential questions are asked and in blogging there is always the opportunity to see how others answer them.
It takes a certain seriousness of purpose to add to the conversation. It also mandates that the writer have an open mind and one that can integrate the complexities and nuances of all the facts in the case and agree to share those insights with respect and in a dignified manner.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
People are fascinated by this case because of the countless nuances relative to the commission of the crime, an up-close look at a sociopath as well as witness first hand the horror and terror that they are capable of. It is a look at the seedier side of life and how easy it is to garner 15 minutes of fame and fast cash.
Who’s a diagnosed a psychopath as you claim, or are you merely speculating and making up more unproven “facts”?
A sociopath is one who is afftected with a personality disorder marked by antisocial behavior. A psychopath is a person with an antisocial personality disorder, manifested in aggressive, perverted criminal, or amoral behavior without empathy or remorse. The two might sound the same to some, however the differences between sociopaths and psychopaths are very real.
Casey differes from a psychopath in many ways but one thing that I have noticed is her normal temperament, and her personality disorder is expressed in day to day activities like parenting, peers, and her intelligence. She is charming and glib, etc.
I suggest that you look at Dr Hare’s books on Sociopathy as well as review his Check List. I say she is a sociopath but it is only my opinion. Take a look at the check list and see if you can see the “signs and symptoms” in Casey. There should be about 20.
I have reviewed the literature on sociopathy and have done very little reading on the characteristics of a psychopath.
Hope this was helpful.
Thanks again for proving my points about uneducated and uninformed people like yourself. And, you are welcome. Boston.
What do you think about the change in the death penalty request for Casey? What made them change their mind?
I’m glad I could help you out.
Linda-Hard evidence that cannot be disputed. Many bloggers are saying it is the shoes evidence, possibly the small tissue evidence found on the duct tape, the toxicology results of bone and hair samples. Word Press Headline writers are all putting up new bylines on this breaking story.
Death penalty change won’t matter if the prosecution can’t prove their case. And by all accounts by experts, they will likely not get a conviction on first-degree murder. Sad, but looks true.
Prosecutors have a legal responsibility to move forward with the evidence they have accumulated and update the charges. We know the crime was premeditated but we do not know with any certainty the HACs.
No, there is no evidence released thus far that proves the crime was premeditated, at least if you use the facts of this case.
If you only read half of what has been published and listened to a couple of legal analyst you would not be so uninformed.
The aggravating circumstances have to be established before any decent prosecutor upgrades the charge from Felony Murder 1. The child was under the age of 12 and the evidence clearly states that the child did not kill herself and she her bones were found in a swamp.
Therefore the Heinous, Atrocious and Cruel aggravators can be established and are central to making the decision to upgrade to the Death Penalty.
Felony Murder in the First Degree is a premeditated murder under the Florida statues.
Example: Phil Spector. It was not proven by the evidence presented that he had any intentions of killing Lana. What he was convicted of was Second Degree Murder. He placed the gun in her mouth like he had done six times in the past but this time it went off. He was drunk and on drugs much of his adult life. He was drinking that night. He will get 18-Life and never face the Death Penalty. Even though he didn;t intend to kill her he did. When you kill you get punished whether you meant to do or not.
If Casey Anthony said, “I gave Caylee an overdose of chorolform or Sudafed and she died”. She would have been charged with First Degree Murder. She would never be facing the Death Penalty.
It’s OK for you, Boston, to believe what you think are the facts of this case, but I will stay on the actual fact side of this case and I feel quite confident that they are correct and completely opposite of your interpretations of them. But, education is key to really knowing the truth here.
Michelle,
You keep talking about the actual facts of this case. Why do’t you educate us and list the facts we OBVIOUSLY overlooking? Can you do that?
I don’t think you believe in very much Michelle. You are so separated from anything really meaningful and purposeful. You type words but they have no meaning; albeit you continue day in and day out, to convince others of your interest, you lack the academic rigor it takes to stay in the game. After a long and convoluted sentence you never hesitate to demean and degrade abject strangers. This is the mark of a real coward.
It is my firm belief that someone has harmed and hurt you. I would never stoop so low as to add salt to that lifelong wound.
Boston,
AMEN to your response to Mich.
My guess is she will not list what facts she thinks she knows. The constant barrage regarding our “lack of education and college degrees” seems to be the only thing she knows how to say. Besides…I do have a college degree…big deal! That doesn’t make anyone have common sense.
Linda – I always have to laugh when Michelle crawls around the net saying that people have to have an education to understand this case. Smart, informed, insightful and engaged people can read the newspapers, magazines, listen to the television and radio commentary to get a lay person’s understanding of what went down on June 16, 2008.
I don’t know one law student working for one single Federal judge who could produce daily workproduct without the internet.
You do not need an education but more importantly the will to learn and make the facts relevant and meaningful. Understanding the facts will make accepting the verdict less stressful.
Karen- I spent 20 years as a student and 35 at the front of the room and still with each passing day I think I could have done more. For the past 4 months I had the opportunity to walk away from the education scene and work with the “least among us” It has been one of the greatest joys in life to meet and greet them.
From those who have so little I have been given so much. When I forgot my lunch there was always someone willing to share their’s. It isn;t what’s in one’s head that matters it is what lies beneath; the seen and the unseen-the heart and soul. Never a unkind word and always what I like to call that “Buddah smile”.
God willing, Michelle will find her bliss.
Forgive me Linda I don;t know why I called you “Karen”. A name is so important. I hate it when I make a mistake like that.
According to many experts, the change in the death penalty is not because the evidence has changed, but is a means of attempting to get a plea from Casey. The experts are still not wavering in their conclusion that a conviction of first degree murder against Casey Anthony is still highly unlikely. After reviewing the evidence in this case released to the public, I agree, based upon the evidence, extremely unlikely.
I loath circular thinking.
Circular-thinking requires being able to navigate some, and many do not possess that ability.
A person who is engaged, as you are, in circular thinking or reasoning can effectively block learning. Circular thinkers bring nothing to the table because they are in a rut so to speak. Circular thinking is not a skill or an ability. Circular thinking and magical thinking are clearly defined in the literature.
Thanks Boston for proving my points about uninformed and illinformed people like yourself Boston, and, you are welcome for me pointing out your errors. You have a right to be wrong. But, I will stay on the other side of the fence, the factual side of this case.
Glad I could help you out.
Really, Thanks, it actually helps others when they can actually see some of the things I have been stressing actually playing out for them. Thanks again.
I am always happy to help you out.
Silence has a melody all it’s own.
Been quite busy, what’s up?
The Orlando Sentinel has a good article on the potential costs of going forward with the death penalty: With Casey Anthony’s Life at stake, court costs soar. There is also mention of the Death Penalty Information Center.
Statistically, the numbers are extremely low for women on death row in the state of Florida.
Here are the statistics on who is currently serving their sentence on Death Row.
Male: 3291 (98.2%)
Female: 59 (01.08%)
Correction to your post: Statistically the numbers are extrememly low for woman on death row in the United States of America.
I do not believe in the Death Penalty because I believe it is not a deterrant to crime. People commit acts of violence without regard to consequences because of their total lack of respect for themselves and their victim.
In taking someone’s life the state has the right to isolate and confine the accused for 23 hours each day and serve them an obligatory bowl of steam soup. That is worse than the death penalty.
Arrording to prison statistics there is only one woman in Florida who is on death row. She was charged with Felony Murder in the First-Degree. She buried a couple alive after she tortured and robbed them. Understanding the Felony Murder Rule will further help you understand that although she did not kill them outright her actions caused them to die. Because the autopsy reports came back with this direct evidence the HACs were included thereby allowing the DA to attach the Death Penalty to the charge. (Heinous, Attrocious and Cruel)
Based upon the facts of the case, experts continue to say that a conviction of first-degree murder against Casey Anthony is extremely unlikely and highly improbable. I agree with the experts. Actually, if one only deals with the facts of this case, the state of Florida has zero direct-evidence against Casey Anthony and there are hundreds, if not thousands, of other people that could have done the crime other than Casey……………… if one only deals with the facts.
That “one” should be you.
You are welcome for the facts.
Actually I feel sorry for Cindy Anthony. She obviously made mistakes in bringing up her daughter but I think, basically, she’s a good person. She’s lying because she’s trying to keep her whole family from falling apart.I would do that, too. Just imagine the terrible situation she is in- her daughter has killed her granddaughter and risks the death penalty. Not only has she lost her granddaughter in such a horrible way but she has lost her daughter, too. What would you do? Would you say, “My daughter is guilty -she deserves to die” or would you try to save her? What a horrendous situation to be in, anyway. Perhaps they’re guilty of loving their daughter too much and overprotecting her to the point she never learned right from wrong. They made a mistake but as far as we know they were never abusive parents. They were just trying to do their best and it went horribly wrong. So I think we should appreciate the enormous pressure they are under. It must be a total nightmare. It’s easy to judge them but what would we do in such an awful situation?
Rachel,
I can understand making mistakes while raising your children, after all, who has not. However, I don’t understand wanting your daughter to go without taking responsibility for her actions, especially actions that resulted in the death of ones grandchild or anyone else for that matter.
I personally believe that trying to excuse or protect our children is part of what is wrong with todays society. The police have an acronym for it, SODDI….some other dude did it excuse!
Cindy knows the truth but refuses to accept it..no blame, no responsibility! How does that help Casey? If she walks away from this Lord knows what she might think she can get away with even if it was the result of an accidental killing.
Everyone involved with this needs to take the responsibility that lies at their door. Cindy can help Casey..and maybe save her life..by getting her to tell the truth.
As hard as I try, I can’t muster any sympathy for the Anthonys amymore. I used to, but no longer.
